The Crimson Rosella is a striking looking parrot native to eastern and south eastern Australia. It is commonly found in most areas and is relatively common in gardens and woodlands. The Crimson Rosella is fascinating in that it changes colour to yellow as you go inland. This bird is the nominate red.
The Story Behind The Photo
In 2013 I moved to an acre block in the suburb of Bangalee, NSW. I was very lucky to have a number of different bird species in the yard and late one afternoon I captured this Rosella on this perch. This shot is one of my favourites as the lighting works well and the eye contact from the bird is strong.
